1 year with out CHOCOLATE!!!

Last September when we were in TX our world had been turned upside down. We moved into the Parker's home, Phil was put into the bishopric, Brooks was born in May, Boston had just turned 2, I had no idea how to parent of two a and there was just a lot of frustration and anger in our lives with learning how to deal with our very SPIRITED child! Since I was breast feeding Brooks I could not participate in a real 24 hour fast. So I usually just gave up something for a week. Well I decided and needed to give up chocolate for a year. I made a deal with the Lord that if I gave up the very thing I loved he would help me and Boston to learn to communicate better and help me be a better mother. I can honestly say that it worked. I actually LOVE my daughter more than I ever imagined and we have a great relationship and I have been a much better mother because of my little sacrifice. I love how the Lord truly knows us and shows us our weaknesses and helps us overcome them so they are our greatest strengths!

So my two best friends from college were able to come and hang out with me! Tommie Bonner and Sarah Cipriano, we did everything our 2 semester of college. Sarah actually talked Tommie into going on a mission, she's not even of our faith. She was my favorite roommate in college! We are planning a reunion next year with all of our other "Church Street Girls". We lived in a house of 8, what a fun time.
I cooked them lasagna, salad and garlic bread. Then we went to the store to buy fruit snacks and between the 2 of them, they bought me a basket full of groceries! What great friends, what a huge blessing! I am so blessed in my life, I have so much to give back to people, for with how much the Lord has taken care of our little family lately.

Miken, as usual you have inspired me! I read your post and thought "man that is awesome...sure wish I had the will power to do something like that"!!! This morning I woke up and KNEW what I would give up and what I would ask for in return! It was an inspired feeling all because of you! Being prego, I can't fast but have felt like we needed the extra blessings that fasting can bring but didn't know how. Thanks to you, now I do! You are an amazing mom and woman! Thanks for the inspiration! I am giving up soda, by the way...pray for me! HAHAHA! Love ya!
