A new happy start and sad ending...

Well Brooks and I took off last weekend for our little get away vacation, just the 2 of us. We were just supposed to go to Utah for Jay's wedding. He is one of the 3 boys I used to nanny for. Man time flies! But my grandma ended up passing away too, so we extended our trip and attended her funeral. And while we were there we went to a cousins farewell for his mission. What an adventure. What a blast!

Here is my happy little traveler. Brooks is amazing. I had a total blast getting to know her better with a lot of one on one time. She is just a great happy fun kid. Did I mention chunky too! (17 lbs) Our trip started off in Utah to visit Phil's family for the evening and dinner. You know you have great in laws and cool brother and sister in law when you visit with out your husband. Then off to the wedding Friday morning.

Here is the beautiful couple. Jay and Jessica. I love how he's checking out his new wife!

2 of my 3 favorite boys ever. Jay and Bryce. Jeff left to decorate the hotel room before we could find him to take the picture.

Here's the family. Chad, Mindy and I are the 3 kids Cris and Connie never physically had. But they have made us a part of their lives for over 10 years. THANK YOU!

Here is my trooper! So the most eventful thing happened coming home from LAX. We just got done going through security and I had buckled Brooks back into her car seat. Thank goodness, because when I put her seat in the stroller it didn't lock into place, as I moved around to start pushing her to get us out of the way and she toppled right over the back of the stroller straight off on to the hard cement floor; right on her head. Yeah some times I REALLY SUCK at this mom thing. Thank goodness I prayed that morning before we left for no harm or accident. My prayer was truly answered. The paramedics came and checked her out. She ended up being just fine, not a scratch on her. Wow...I'm so grateful for simple prayers and angels! I hope I didn't cause to much damage later on down the road.

Then at my cousins farewell my best friend from childhood Stacy came to see us. We had a blast catching up! Brooks loved her.

Here we are just the 3 of us.

My sisters Carrie, Callie, Ashley and myself. Brooks is in the picture you just can't see her cause I'm holding her off to the side on my hip, just hiding her from the picture.:)

This was one of the hardest days I've had to deal with. My grandma never got to meet Brooks. My grandma was the most amazing lady. Like every one's Grandma's are. They aren't ever supposed to die. But she is in a better place and hopefully figured out the big picture from up there. She lived to be almost 93. I will miss her dearly, I will miss my monthly letters we used to correspond with. She was and is such a great example to me. I was honored to say the closing prayer at her funeral.

While I was gone Phil took great care of Boston, they went to Chucky Cheese, LOWE'S build a workshop, the movies and just had a blast. Phil even made AIRMAN OF THE QUARTER again, Boston called me to tell me over the phone. It was great! We are so proud of you Phil. Thank you for serving our country and our family so well. Thank you for a little bit of a break.

I am sorry about your Grandma, I can't imagine how hard that would be. I am glad you and Brooks got to go and say goodbye to her.

Looks like a fun trip otherwise.

I am one of Carla Inman's daughters. It is a small world because Chad is my husband's cousin. Chad and Mindy are really great people. Sorry to hear about your grandmother passing away.

What a blessed trip! I love having one on one time with each of my kids- and I bet you had a wonderful time all alone with Brooks (I love her big bow at the wedding!). And how great is was that you got to catch up with so many people. How is Stacy? Where is she living... catch me up. By the way, glad Brooks was ok after the airport tumble.
