To Jump or not to Jump....that is the question

Should I?
No....it looks really far down and cold.

Well maybe...it won't hurt! I can swim. Plus my mom is a life guard she will save me!

The shore isn't that far away I can make it.
Well ladies and gentlemen these pictures were from our trip about a month ago. I was not fortunate to get any pictures today. Boston and I went to feed the ducks a fun outdoors outing when it's 80 degrees in Jan in TX. I was sitting down, getting ready to get up where Phil is at in the picture above. Boston was on the other side across from me like she is up in the other picture holding on and hanging over. Well today she slipped and went head first into the BLACK water. I got up as fast as a pregnant lady could. Jumped in away from her to grab her. She had already came up for air and was treading water-yep she's a swimmer. Screaming because of the shock and the cold water and the 4-5 foot fall she had taken. I had always wondered how deep it was. It was chest deep. I grabbed B held her above my head stuck in mud and mucky yuck up to my knees. Let me remind you I've got a 22 week old belly. My shoes came off and it took me a good 10 minutes (seemed like an eternity) to get to the bank. I got stuck a couple of times. I started to yell for help. This pond is off the road aways and there is no one around. I realized I had to stop yelling because I was scaring B. So I finally got up and out of the water. We are all nasty looking, smelling, muddy and all covered in black. I hug B proceed to put her in the bike trailer, get on my bike and head up to the road. I flagged 4 people down, no one had phones they all looked at me like I was a mad woman all covered in swamp! The whole time B is just sitting there quietly. I finally get ahold of a phone; mine went dead in the water. I told Phil to meet us at home. I take off on the bike barefoot and pregnant and get home. He heads to the pond where we were. Freaks out cause we are not there, all he sees is just my shoes floating in the water, my water bottle and left over bread sack from the ducks. He finally comes home and we had stripped outside and ran into the bath tub. Thank goodness it was warm outside. We were freezing. We ended up going to the ER to get checked out. I got pretty cut up on my legs, cause of all the debree that was in the water and they needed to check the baby and make sure she was okay. Both Boston and baby girl are good. I'm just sore as heck and sad I couldn't get a picture of the mess we were. So there is our day at the Harding home. Never a dull moment! Moral of the story, stay along the bank and feed the ducks, do not go on the bridge anymore, no matter how good Boston usually does.

ScarY! I've always wondered about that when we feed the ducks up here (how fast I could jump in). Glad to hear everything is okay!

such a scary story. Oh my goodness. As I am reading it I am picturing it all and I can't believe it. My biggest fear is seeing one of my babies falling in the water and me not knowing about it. Glad you're both okay. Poor Phil, I can't imagine how freaked out he was to get to the pond and see the aftermath with you guys not there.

Oh my gosh.....you know how many times we've gone down to that very same bridge and each time I thought....what would happen if one of the kids fell in. You just lived that nightmare!!!! While you were in there, did you find Sam's walkie talkie? Ha! I'm glad you guys are ok, yikes!!

Oh my goodness!!! That's crazy-I could almost envision it in my mind. Poor thing that must've been so scary for her. But hey at least she has a story to tell when she's older. that's great that you got pictures of her the month before leaning over the bridge! Glad all are okay:)

I read this on my phone earlier and have been thinking about it all morning. Scary but really funny and sounds like you handled it perfectly. Hope you heal and Boston stays dry from now on.

SO glad everyone is okay! Have to admit it made me feel better about what happened at the zoo when we visited! It happens to the best of us!

Ran into your mom at the temple yesterday while the youth were doing baptisms and she told me about this. So glad it all turned out okay. How are you holding up? You didn't remind me you were here at Christmas...though I was working 12-15 hours a day at that time and didn't even finish Christmas shopping. I'm still working long hours, but am better at learning to end and start over the next day. Call when you get a phone that works. So scary...pics would have been priceless of you covered in muck!

Okay.... WOW! I just shared this with Jeff and we both were impressed she can swim! Then I think I would have died because I couldn't have saved my kids do to the fake I can't swim that well. That is a very eventful day. So I have a question for you? I would like you to tell all of us a few safty tips if this happends to any of us. Like I have no idea that you jump away from the person? I know not to jump on them... but I need some details on how you handle this type of thing. I'm glad you are all okay and I think a good tetanus shot could be in order after seeing that black water. Love ya, Sarah

So SCARY!! And also Congrats on having another girl. There won't be another one here for a while. Although I have loved motherhood, Addie is 7 months old and still doesn't sleep through the night. UGH!! I have read books etc, tried it all and she still doesn't sleep so until this girl lets me sleep a little there won't be a number two for a while.

I remember that duck pond very well and I would NEVER want to be in that water--you were smart to get checked out--who knows what you could've contracted in that water!!! glad you, B, and baby are okay!
